Crystal Jade Korean Ginseng Chicken and BBQ

Woo. I'm so happy that I finally get to try this after so long. Had dinner there today with my parents under my suggestion. Absolutely no regrets. =)

The food is fantastic, especially the seasoned Beef short rib which we added on to the Set meal for 2. It's sweetish, without much of the horrid beef stench you sometimes get with stale beef. Coupled with the lettuce provided, it's heaven.

The soup is thicker than I thought, since my usual impression of chicken soup would be it's lightness. The taste of ginseng is strong, showing the quality of the ingredients. The chicken was also simmered long enough for its flesh to turn soft and tender. It was stuffed with glutinous rice too. Yum.

Not a fan of fish. I changed the grilled mackerel into pork collar without extra charges. Tender and crispy after grilling, it's more saltish compared to the beef and equally suitable to be accompanied with plain rice. We had Bi Bim Bap instead though, part of the set meal.

Side dishes! I read online and just found out that these are refillable. Damn. Could have asked for more of the delicious kimchi!

The service is good, and I'm especially happy with our waitress of the night. She is friendly, and willing to explain the size of the portions to us, recommending the best options for our table size, since the set for 2 looks small and the set for 4 looks huge. We ended up stuffed anyway. The food portions are huge!

One complain I have will be how fast they serve our food though. Within minutes our tables were filled, and they have to whisk away our Bi Bim Bap to redistribute into 3 bowls for us. If the space is allowed I would much rather do it myself. Then I can decide whether to keep the rice in e bowl longer and have more of the burnt rice, and the amount of chilli I want in the rice.

I just read how people ordered a set meal for 2 and shared among 4, and emerged comfortably full. Shall do that next time. And the spicy soups sound good too. Can't wait for my next visit!
